"Aušra"

In 1960 m. came the first number of “Aušra“. It was the first Lithuanian newspaper after the Second World War. The first editorial office was in Warsaw, it‘s editor -  Zigma Stoberskis.  In 1960-1972 m. „Aušra“ wasn‘t periodical publication. There were only 18 numbers of “Aušra“ in that period of time.  In 1972m. „Aušra“ came only four times a year and it was so till 1989m. 1972m. editorial office of „Aušra“ was moved to Punskas, and later to Seiniai. In Punsk „Aušra“  was edited by Jonas Karčiauskas, and in Seiniai - Eugenijus Petruškevičius. Circulation of „Aušra“ grew up: from 1600 of one in 1960 till 4000 of one in 1978 – 80m.  1984 – 1989 years are ununambiguous period; there were articles that not everyone liked. In 1989 there were only 2 numbers of “Aušra“. Now “Aušra“ is fortnightly publication. Run of 1000 copies.
